The Tower of Babel

The account of the tower of Babel can be read in Genesis 11:1-9. Let's read Verse 4, "And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." Clearly, Genesis 1-11 underlines the vanity and sinfulness of man! This writer believes man has not changed very much, since the building of the tower of Babel! "The people in this account built their tower as a monument to their own greatness, something for the whole world to see" from the Life Application Bible."
What are we building our monuments to: expensive clothing, fancy cars, big homes, or even an important career?? What is more important than God in your life? God is great and is to be honored and glorified 24/7! So much of what we do in life is to help people see some kind of greatness in us! But, the greatness of God is to be published all over the world, not man's! Challenge: get to know God and His greatness and tell somebody about the great love He has for all people! God sent His one and only Son to this earth to save people from their sins! Could God have done anything greater? NO! Writer, Jim Kultau
